Why is superman such an enduring superhero? There must be dozens of answers to this question, but undoubtedly he's a more interesting character due to the sharp contrast between his public persona and his private life, a.k.a.: Clark Kent. If your old enough, you may remember the classic intro to Superman: "Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, Superman! Disguised as a mild-mannered newspaper reporter Clark Kent..." Sometimes I use this example to teach children about the virtues of meekness. Clark Kent is such a gentle and simple person, that no one would ever suspect how powerful he really is. He neither boasts nor shows off, but when it comes to getting the job done there's no one who can do it better! When one is truly powerful, they learn how to control themselves. Let's not just celebrate children for what they do, but also how they conduct their actions.
