Post: While reading a book about developing your memory, I read the author's take on focus: "The best advice I ever came across on the subject of concentration is: Wherever you are, be there" -Jim Rohn. As I think about our modern day, everyone seems to bemoan the collective lack of attention span. The popular culprit is technology, but the idea of multi-tasking is associated with sophistication and productivity. How many times have we or our children run around in circles because we were trying to do everything and failed to do anything? In one of my favorite lines from Crime & Punishment, a Russian verb is quoted, "A man who seeks after many rabbits will not even get one." Let's develop in our children a sense of accomplishment by doing one thing at a time, and doing that very well.
